This Sunday, 55% of the few Parisian voters who turned out (5.68%) voted in favor of creating a “specific fare for the parking of heavy, bulky, polluting individual cars”. The measure could be implemented as of September 1st.
This idea is also gaining traction in Bordeaux. “We have not yet decided our position, we are working on a differentiated pricing based on the weight of the vehicles, similar to what other cities are doing,” explained the mayor, while specifying that there is “no definitive solution today,” but that this issue is “one of the working areas for 2024”.
The mayor also added that measures seem necessary in the face of “the weight of these vehicles that are not urban vehicles and that congest our streets”.
