For the past few days, there has been a rumor circulating about François Bayrou returning to the government, to a ministry he knows well because he was in charge from 1993 to 1997. During the France 2 program on Monday evening, the main person involved did not deny it. When asked about a possible return to the government, François Bayrou replied, *”I never rule anything out. The principle, for me, precisely because [I am] committed, is to never rule anything out.

“* *”I think there is a great deal of turmoil in the National Education system, not just this month, but for years”* *”This is probably the most important issue, or one of the most important issues that we have to resolve,”* he insisted. More broadly, the Sud Éducation, Unsa Éducation, FSU, Sgen-CFDT and CGT Educ’action unions have called for a *“week of action from the 5th to the 9th of February”* to *“defend public education, demand immediate discussions on salaries, as well as the abandonment of the ‘shock of knowledge’ measures”*. The minister *”has the confidence”* of Emmanuel Macron and Gabriel Attal, said Sunday the minister in charge of Relations with Parliament, Marie Lebec. But her remaining in office raises questions at the highest levels of government.

In Parliament, *”the vast majority of deputies (Renaissance) have abandoned her and think it’s over,”* reported a member of the presidential party, but *”the president’s psychology”* on this issue remains *”unfathomable. “*
