The tension is at its peak for large retailers and food industry giants who have just concluded their annual negotiations on consumer goods prices. The contracts reached last Wednesday between the two sides, after a fierce battle, are already under scrutiny by Bruno Le Maire. The Minister of Economy is eager to defend farmers, despite having pressured for months to lower prices on the shelves.

Nearly three weeks after the start of the agricultural crisis and about ten days before the Agriculture Fair, there is no question of easing the pressure.
