The Snes-FSU (the main union in secondary schools) as well as CGT Educ’action and Sud Éducation, gathered in a joint union meeting on Friday, have “called on staff to make the week of February 5th a week of action in Education and to strike on Tuesday,” as stated in a press release from CGT Educ’action. The unions are calling for mobilization around the issue of salaries as well as the implementation of measures from the “shock of knowledge” initiative launched by Prime Minister Gabriel Attal to raise the level of students, which is set to take effect next school year. It is particularly the ability groups, in French and mathematics for 6th and 5th graders, that are irritating the unions. In its statement, CGT Educ’action also “deplores the outdated vision of the school, illustrated by the desire to implement a uniform and the generalization of the SNU.”
Furthermore, “the remarks made by Amélie Oudéa-Castera, denigrating public school and its staff, show how much the National Education system is scorned by the current government,” according to this union. Los sindicatos piden movilizarse en torno a la cuestión de los salarios, así como a la implementación de medidas del “shock de conocimientos” lanzado por el primer ministro Gabriel Attal para elevar el nivel de los estudiantes, que entrará en vigor el próximo año escolar. Son especialmente los grupos de habilidades, en francés y matemáticas para los estudiantes de 6to y 5to grado, los que irritan a los sindicatos.
En su comunicado, CGT Educ’action también “lamenta la visión obsoleta de la escuela, ilustrada por el deseo de implementar un uniforme y la generalización del SNU”. Además, “los comentarios de Amélie Oudéa-Castera, denigrando la escuela pública y su personal, muestran lo mucho que el sistema de Educación Nacional es menospreciado por el gobierno actual”, según este sindicato.
